Punch cards that combine design and musicality using a hand-cranked punch card music box.
This work applies the mechanism where cards with holes punched according to musical notes are read to produce music. While the machine itself is not new, the ingenious shape and placement of the punch holes create a visually engaging effect reminiscent of paper cutouts or shadow puppets. It also produces a beautiful tone when played as a song. A case and sound box were also created as peripheral components. Paper was cut using a cutting machine, while acrylic and wood were processed with a laser cutter.
